Talk to us about your outdoor area
Here’s what our customers have to say.
Right now, your outdoor area is probably:
- Too hot in summer and too wet or windy when the weather turns
- Perfect on ten days a year and ignored the rest of the time
- Leaving chairs, tables and doors exposed to sun, rain and salt air
- Letting mosquitoes and glare drive you back inside just when you want to relax
With the right retractable roof, that same outdoor area becomes:
- Comfortable in sun, light rain and most of the weather you’d normally avoid
- A shaded, cooler spot in summer and a sun‑filled space you actually want in winter
- A protected zone for decking, doors and furniture so they age slower, not faster
- The place everyone naturally gathers for coffee, meals and evenings, not the space you walk past

FAQs
How well do retractable roofs handle strong wind and coastal conditions?
Quality systems are engineered with wind ratings and components suited to exposed sites, including coastal homes. The key is matching the right product and fixing method to your level of exposure. On-site, we look at height, aspect, and how open the area is before recommending anything.
Will a retractable roof make the inside of my home darker?
One advantage of a retractable roof over a fixed structure is that you can open it when you want more natural light. When closed, it will shade the adjacent rooms, but fabric choice, frame design and how far it projects can all be adjusted to balance indoor light with outdoor comfort. We take this into account when we measure and design.
What’s the difference between a retractable roof and a louvred roof?
A retractable roof uses a tensioned fabric that folds or rolls away completely, giving you open sky when you want it. A louvred roof uses fixed blades that tilt to control light and rain but generally don’t retract out of the way. Retractable fabric roofs tend to feel lighter, offer a larger opening, and can often be more flexible for existing patios and balconies.
Can I add side blinds or screens to a retractable roof later on?
Often, yes. Many clients start with the roof and add side blinds once they’ve lived with the space for a while. It’s still best to think about future screening at the design stage, so we can ensure the structure will accept blinds cleanly when you’re ready.
